Utility Fleet Mechanic Certification Program

Overview

The Utility Fleet Mechanic Certification Program promotes industry best practices by recognizing qualified professionals who inspect, service, maintain and repair utility fleet equipment.

Developed under the direction of the Canadian Utility Fleet Council (CUFC), the program helps ensure that utility equipment is maintained by competent and properly trained personnel.

Examination Fee: $150 CAD + applicable taxes

Examination Process

The certification examination is a voluntary process designed around recognized industry best practices.

Qualified applicants may challenge the examination once all eligibility requirements have been met.

Examination Format

  • 100 questions

  • Multiple choice and true/false format

  • Computer-generated examination with randomized questions

  • Two-hour time limit

  • Calculator permitted

  • No written reference materials allowed

  • No coaching permitted during the examination

Some topics considered critical to utility equipment safety and maintenance carry greater weight in the final score.

Each examination is unique, with questions selected randomly from an approved question database.

Examination Results

A passing grade of 75% or higher is required.

Successful applicants will:

  • Receive proof of completion.

  • Be entered into the official database of Qualified Utility Fleet Equipment Mechanics.

Access to this database is strictly controlled by the CUFC Mechanic Training Committee.

Appeals

Any appeal regarding examination results or related disputes must be submitted to the CUFC Mechanic Training Committee.

All decisions made by the committee are final.
